Hiya's,

On 350mb, been same address since 2010, besides very minimal downtimes thing's been great

The last five weeks or so have been horrid, worse as i get to on of a weekend (but some times i try during the week just as bad

Can connect and stay on for minutes to seconds or get lucky and have a decent session

Hopefully i post the details correctly ...........

Hiya's,

Update ......

Nice local lad turned up

He checked connection from coax to hub, cut a fresh connector on

Went to the box just up the road after seeing a weird reading on hub status page, found my cable (or wires whatever they termed) was bent, redid that end of the line, he reckons the tiny amount of play in the connection due to the hot/cold cycles of late were to blame for the time of day/night dropouts

Well copper being copper that makes sense to me

So, i will leave BQM on til end of next week and hopefully i fully sorted, he did say though asap it does drop call and he'll try to get back asap

Fingers crossed n all that lol

Cheers

Have Fun

Def

Long story short he reckons the problem is fixed

Edit : i canae spell hehe

Sounds plausible! - Keep us posted!

Hiya's,

Had tea from around 5:10 to 5:30, then went to pc

Connections on/off like a fiddlers elbow going in/out

Guess i'm back to square one lol

Any idea which phone number i call for another engineer ? i do have a virgin landline

Cheers

Hiya's,

A second visit booked Thursday 8-12

The very evident short disconnects suggest to me something physically broken that's resulting in loss of contact, such as a broken core in the coax to your property (that requires a re-pull of a new cable, often taking weeks), or a faulty joint on the coax socket of the hub, which would need a replacement hub.  Certainly doesn't look like a nice simple radio frequency noise or power level issue.

Fingers crossed that they find something simple and quick to resolve, but don't be too surprised if this doesn't get fixed quickly.  Sounds like the first technician was thinking along similar lines of a physical fault, but often it's near impossible to actually pinpoint such intermittent faults, and they are addressed by working through replacement of gear, starting with the most likely/cheapest.

Hiya,

Thanks for the reply

The pavement right outside where the coax runs up to the box at end of the road has recently been dig up, but they were well towards the road edge of the pavement and i know the vm cable runs closer to the house edge of pavement

My fiancee said she's seen guys working at the local box so that may explain the bend on my cable i guess (maybe due to having to add more customers cabling ?)

With it starting so randon and getting worse it's real hard for figuring a date/time it really started, just the past month plus has been bad, as the odd disco doesn't really stay in your memory, only when it's more frequent i kinda took real notice (if that makes sense)

Anyways i'll wait in hope hehe

Cheers
