Hi I would like to know how long does it to take for Virgin to upgrade your broadband speed from 200 to 500? Is it hours, days or weeks

Hours if new equipment is not required.

Hi @roypotter98
It also depends on how you requested the speed upgrade.
If you placed the request online via My Virgin Media, or via text or whatsapp it's usually a couple of days as it needs to be input manually, but in the case of exceptional services may take up to five working days.
If it was over the phone it's usually instant unless a new hub or any other new equipment has been ordered.
If it's part of a Volt upgrade it's usually around 14 days after the sim is boosted

Without sounding daft how would I actually know it’s been done ? I’ve had no email to say it has.
Many Thanks

Access your HUB on 192.168.0.1, then the 'Check Router Status' option, just underneath the login boxes.
Then select the 'Configuration' tab, that will look something like:
Network access | true |
Maximum Number of CPEs | 1 |
Baseline Privacy | true |
DOCSIS Mode | 3.1 |
Config file | wrkldJKDHSUBsgvca69834ncx |
SFID | 889 |
Max Traffic Rate | 1200000450 |
Max Traffic Burst | 42600 |
Min Traffic Rate | 0 |
SFID | 1420 |
Max Traffic Rate | 55000270 |
Max Traffic Burst | 42600 |
Min Traffic Rate | 0 |
Max Concatenated Burst | 16320 |
Scheduling Type | bestEffort |
You are looking for the two 'Max Traffic Rate' options to determine your current download and upload speeds.

Hi @roypotter98,
Welcome to our Community Forums! Thank you for your first post and I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing some issues with your speeds at the moment!
Have you been able to reboot your Hub to see if this improves your speeds? You can see how to run a Speed Test via our website to see results.
I was able to check our systems and it all looks fine on our end. Please give it a go and let us know how you get on. 🙂
Thank you.
