Broadband not upgraded to Oomph bundle

Just recently upgraded to Oomoh bundle which advertised speeds up to M500.

The upgrade was pretty straight forward. However my broadband speed has stayed exactly the same (around 60MB from previous package).

Contacted virgin today and waited 45 minutes to be told there was an issue in my area which doesn’t seem to be the case...

Anyone similar or could pass on advice??

Re: Broadband not upgraded to Oomph bundle

have you rebooted the router - start with that - if that does not help try a full reset

what is the 60meg you quore - is that a wifi speed - have you checked wired

log into hub3 - 192.168.0.1 [or 192.168.100.1 if in modem mode] - DON'T SIGN IN, click - click router status [centre of screen] - and post the figures from the configuration screen

Re: Broadband not upgraded to Oomph bundle

images take a while to show but have looked elsewhere and can see the config is for 500 so that bit is right

so how are you testing - wifi is no measure - start with a wired test - pc must have 1gig card and you need a cat5e cable or better

Re: Broadband not upgraded to Oomph bundle

Sorry Tony don’t have the cable you mentioned.

Ive just been going off the Speedtest app but surely that would still indicate an improvement if I had been upgraded effectively ?

Re: Broadband not upgraded to Oomph bundle

wifi is all about the device you are testing with - if you got 60 before and your package was higher than 60 which it must have been then whatever you upgrade to will have no effect as its the device thats controlling the speed

certainly some devices will do much better than what you are getting - i am no expert on whats better but modern smartphones and tablets should do much better than 60 as should wifi on a laptop

what are you using to test

Re: Broadband not upgraded to Oomph bundle

hmmm - dont know what a 6s will give

60/70 down

3/12 up

on 4 tests to anyone looking before the mods approve the images

what were you on before the upgrade and are those speeds the same

you can log into the hub and turn off smart wifi also split the wifi bands - no idea if the 6s is 2.4 and 5 - if it is speed test on each band

BUT to know what the state of the input is you need to connect wired and test

Re: Broadband not upgraded to Oomph bundle

Just as an example, my Macbook Air and iPhone7 both get 220mbps on my Vivid200 wifi connection - but only when I put them onto the 5GHz network (or on ethernet cable).
Sat in the same spot if I then flick them over to the 2.4GHz network, they max out at 70-80mbps - it's just the limitations of the wifi technology!

--------------------
Services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired 2 WiFi,) SH2 in modem mode with Airport Extreme Router. On VIVID200, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.
