Broadband download speed very slow

I have just upgraded my Broadband from Vivid 200 to Vivid 350 but have noted that my broadband download speed is only a fraction of what it should be:

Ping 158ms

14.07Mbs download

21Mbs upload

I was expecting far better than this. Rebooted the router and still the same. Also checked the router settings for any obvious anomalies and all appear OK. I think this is something for the Tech guys to resolve back at Virgin Media.

Re: Broadband download speed very slow

Are those numbers by ethernet connection or wifi.  Have you tried a pinhole reset of the router?

Re: Broadband download speed very slow

Ethernet cable connected to router. Speed test carried out via Internet. No I have not done a pin hole reset of router, but I will do this now. Might be some time before I am back to reply on outcome of this.

Re: Broadband download speed very slow

Hub 3.0 has rebooted and is now initialising. Carried out another Broadband speed test via Broadband.co.uk and results remain similar as before.

19.57 Mb download
7.51MB up
31ms Ping

This cannot be the extent on Vivid 350 and do think something at Virgin Media has not been correctly set during the upgrade. I have had this same situation before when I upgraded to Vivid 200 and Virgin Media did something via their control hub when I called them and after a while I got better download speeds. I was getting a max 120Mbs but normally in the range of 80 to 100Mbs for Vivid 200. Now Im getting much, much less.

Sorry this will sound a bit Noddy - you did push the pin in firmly till it "stops" and hold for a timed (not guessed) 30 seconds and then add a few – and didn’t turn it off.?  Sometimes it doesnt reset itself properly.

But It t wouldnt be the first time VM "forgot" to press the 350 upgrade button for its customers.  You can look in your config file on the Hub settings and see what your max connection speed is set to.

Re: Broadband download speed very slow

log into hub3 - 192.168.0.1 [or 192.168.100.1 if in modem mode] - DON'T SIGN IN, click - click router status [centre of screen] - and post the downstream and upstream figures - to see those press on the grey buttons/boxes labeled - upstream - downstream

also post the info from configuration

Re: Broadband download speed very slow

nothing wrong there - try a test in modem mode if you have not already - test on speedtest.net

Re: Broadband download speed very slow

Tested again in Modem Mode via Speednet.net and figures almost the same. Ping 8ms Down 21.76 and up 21.3. Router pin holed reset with button pressed in excess of 30 seconds and router allowed to reboot. No change.
