Hi all

looking for help on my Hub 4..

had 1gb internet for around 8 months been fantastic… but get 1gb usually sits around 600:700mbps.. which is still brilliant. I have a DECO system which has also been great for home working and gaming … giving me them values above on my speeds tests.

but now all of a sudden last week or so am getting 110 to 180 max? Tried mutiple resets  of the system still the same … tried calling for help at virgin said they would send new coding to the device to help , hasnt helped . Also said give it a week but i know thats not going to help at all.

anyone able to give any advise or help ? I think my hub maybe busted or something ?

What Deco system is it? Is the Hub in modem mode with the Deco doing the routing? If its on ethernet cable connection try a new Cat6a cable - old ones can fail

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Yes the DECO m5 and yes the virgin is on modem mode and DECO doing the router job

Ill try that cable change and see how i get on but i did reset the full network and took the deco off the network and virgin media router back to router mode . And the speed was the same as the deco

Firstly, Can you check for any “known network faults - try in 2 places

1) Try the “check service,”Area status webpage" (link at top right of this forum)

2) Then also try the “free & automated” Service Status number - 0800 561 0061 - which usually gives the most up to date info. and tells you of more local issues down to street cab/ postcode level.

If nothing shows there post up the Hubs data

In your browser’s URL box type in http://192.168.0.1 (or http://192.168.100.1 - if in modem mode) (DONT click these links) - and hit return. On the first page up dont login (unless you have the Hub4/5 - when you do login) just click on the “router status” icon/text at bottom-middle (Hub3/4) or top/right (SH’s) of the Login page and then Navigate to these “pages” and just copy/paste the normal “Formatted Text” (not images) 3 FULL sets of data onto here – 2 tables from the Downstream, 2 from the Upstream, & the Network Logs page. Don't worry too much about the formatting it can be easily read & DON’T include personal data or MAC addresses - blank them out - if you copy/paste the data, the board software will do this for you (you may need to click the "submit" button again. If character limits are “exceeded” - just do two posts

If you haven’t already, set up a free, secure and “offlsite” - “Broadband Quality Monitor” to continually monitor the state of your connection and record any true network dropouts , latency issues, packet drops, etc - it will thus allow you to differentiate between those and simple wifi dropouts. It does it 24/7/365 and it keeps a visual record of any/all of your network disconnections, useful data to have to match to the Network logs (in your Hub settings) and also in discussions with VM - note it will take a few hours to start seeing a sensible picture - post up the “link” to the “share live graph”. Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate. Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see. On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon) In the URL box paste the link you copied and then click OK

Hi Gazza23102021, thanks for the message and welcome to the forums.

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with the speed and this is not the experience which we want you to have with us. How is the service since posting? Can you send us the BQM so that this can be investigated?

Chris

Exactly the same … i know i get 1100 to my house and when it goes through my hub i am getting 50 / 100 when i was getting 600/700 pretty easily and for over a year, it’s definitely the hub causing the issue but when i call virgin they are just monitoring it ?

what is bqm?

Hey there @Gazza23102021, thanks for reaching out to us.

I'm sorry to see the issues with the speed.
May I ask if you are using SamKnows speed test?
BQM is a broadband quality monitor graph which allows us to see any spikes, packet loss or latency issues with the connection, which may indicate that there's an SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) fault or a high utilisation fault.
For more information regarding BQM, please check here where you can sign up and run your own checks which will help us to advise regarding your connection. 🙂
Let us know how it goes.

Kind regards.
