Broadband Speed

Hi all

 

I have been trying to do the online chat for a while but no luck. I want someone to look at my broadband. It is slow all the time and keeps dropping out I have a super hub 2. I have checked my end powered off and restarted many times but i keeps doing it, Wired and wifi drops, I get about 44mb to 60mb download max speed. I pay for 200mb. My xbox is wired and that used to get 200mb every time believe it or not but now again today 50mb.

I need someone to check my line or do i need a new hub?

Help in this matter would be great

Posting some basic diagnostic info may help.

Navigate to the hub's GUI using http://192.168.100.1
Don't log in, click the Router Status button in the top right of the screen.
Copy \ Paste the Downstream, Upstream, and Network Logs.

Don't worry about the formatting, but do obscure personal information like your WAN IP address.

Stats look fine.

I would start a Broadband Quality Monitor to get a deeper insight on your connection is performing. You will need to enable Respond to ICMP Echo Requests in the Hub's GUI advanced section.

It would be worth trying another ethernet cable just to check it has not gone bad.

Do you experience the poor speeds all the time or just during the evenings?

A VM Forum Team member should pick up the thread in about a week and will take a closer look at your connection wuth their diagnostic tools.

Drop out could be anytime, wifi or wired. Cable changed last week.

"You will need to enable Respond to ICMP Echo Requests in the Hub's GUI advanced section."  trying to find this setting but can't see it.

Hi Janojano

got the same problems here! just done 3 speed checks and got downloads of 75-98 and uploads of 10-13. I'm also paying for 200, been on Virgins web site for a status check and it says nothing wrong. Going to call now and see what is going off again, will let you know the result..

Log Into the Hub

Click Advanced Settings

Scroll Down to the very bottom to the Tools header.

Click on ping and tick the bottom tickbox and apply

8.7mb upload

Not bad as I'm paying for 200mb :-(  It's just not right and I don't understand why it has dropped so much
