Looking at past threads this issue has been going on for years in this area, it takes months to get normal service then a few months later the same problem comes back again.
From 7pm to 12am speed is 5MB/s compared to the advertised 70MB/s
I wonder if my connection has been throttled by Virgin, I have a few games on steam and they update often, these days 1 game can be over 50GB to download
So maybe if this is the case Virgin could make it more clear that their broadband network is not suitable for gamers ?
There is no throttling for downstream anymore only uploads, you are seeing the classic over utilisation issue. You can either wait a week for an answer here or try calling 150.

I have taken a look and it seems you are affected by fault ref F004288474 for slow speeds during peak times. The current review date is 12/04/2017.

I was told this last year - fault reference F004288474. The review date 1/06/16
Can you give some more detailed information to what fix was done last time and why it was only temporary ?

Sorry to hear about the fault in your area. I've just had a look and I can see that fault: F004288474 is still on-going and will be reviewed again on the 16th Aug.
