Re: ADSL trumps 200MB VIVID

Sadly that is offshore support for you.

Not worth the time speaking to them.

It’s clear to see you have an issue on your connection before it even gets to your house

Re: ADSL trumps 200MB VIVID

Even before there, the onshore person I got who told me I had no appointment also told me there are no virgin staff on the community forum. Was adamant, again an approach of telling the customer they are wrong/stupid. I am at this point in time wishing I was back with sky as just a month after renewing with Virgin, my street is finally FTTC enabled so I could get 70-80Mb instead of it having to go back to the 11Mb I was lucky to get before on ADSL.

I assure you there are staff on the forum. The arse doesn’t know what the head is doing.

Re: ADSL trumps 200MB VIVID

Yeah - I had assumed as much, otherwise why would they have the VM logo beside their name where nobody else does :-)

Re: ADSL trumps 200MB VIVID

Better than the elaborate attempt to pretend there was nothing to see I suppose!

Seen Lost MDD timeouts the other day and just seen RCS partial service - both appear to be bad news from a quick google

Re: ADSL trumps 200MB VIVID

I feel your pain. I'm struggling to get above 1mb download but I am getting an impressive 2mb to 4mb upload. I was getting an easy 180mb+ download until a few days ago (I was hoping to see something close to the 300mb that some are supposed to get but I haven't spoken to anyone that actually sees that.

I wouldn't mind waiting for an engineer normally (par for the course with the service), but I was just about to finally bite the bullet and subscribe to a streaming service but the program I am desperate to watch live is in Sunday and I won't get an engineer in until next week. I'm not holding my breath as past experience of the people they send round is pretty negative. Most have been contractors that check the line, fiddle a bit, say that the service should come back up to scratch in about an hour, leave, get paid for another visit and are never to be seen again.

Re: ADSL trumps 200MB VIVID

Well, engineer visited, said:
1) cable into hub wasn’t properly secured
2) power levels a little high
3) several connections in the splitter outdoors and in “the pit” hadn’t been replaced during install in Jan 2017

Fixed all three, said my connection shouldn’t vary so widely in speed now. Als moves hub slightly as it had been located behind my tv on install.

He also advised my local headend, Linlithgow is currently undergoing upgrade work that is overrunning and until complete my speed will be erratic and unlikely to achieve advertised speed all the time due to contention. Same upgrade of another local headend took 7 months instead of 3-4 months.

Said to monitor my connection the rest of the week before calling back up.

Currently my
Hub has forced 5G channel width from 20/40 MHz down to 20mhz and nothing on the 5G band connects above 54Mbps according to the hub.

Also on. Wired device with a gigabit adapter I can’t get above 112Mbps. Often around 30-50mbps even after a hub reboot.
