70-120Mbps on M350

Tuning in

Hello,

We have the M350 package and at the moment are getting no more than the range in the subject line.

I am using the Hub 3 in Modem mode and use a TP Link Archer AX20 as our home router.

I have tried the connection at different times of day as well as wired (Cat7 ethernet) and wireless and cannot seem to break the barrier of 120Mbps.

Any help or suggestions would be welcome!

What happens if you take the archer out of the equation and connect direct to a laptop from the Hub (in modem mode or router mode)

Hub 3 - Modem Mode - TP-Link Archer C7

Sorry should have specified in my first post, it is the same result with the hub as a router and a modem. We have had (albeit briefly) our full speed through the Archer router on a couple of occasions.

OK - That being the case:

Can you post your Hub status and logs?
Someone should be spot if there is a problem
Navigate to http://192.168.0.1 (or http://192.168.100.1 - if in modem mode)
Don't log in!
Click on 'router status'
Copy/paste the data from each of the tabs. The forum software will remove the MAC addresses for you (you may need to click the 'post' button again).

Also, set up a 'Broadband Quality Monitor'. This will monitor the state of your connection and record any network dropouts etc - You can do this at ThinkBroadband (https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality)
Give it a while to gather data and then click 'Share Live graph' and paste the 'Direct Link' into the forum!

Can you test speeds this way next...
_____________________________

As you expect >100Mbps then connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a NEW and working Cat5e (or better) ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode” (https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-hub-modem-mode ) - this ensures no other device can be connected. Test speeds at https://speedtest.samknows.com/ - try on 2 different browsers.

If they are still low – boot you device into windows safe+networking mode to disable any potentially interfering software - and try again.

There are many posts on here where QoS software (is you Asus running that?), unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers, bad cables or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Likely downstream utilisation being QoS and thats the available bandwidth you can get.

Have you got an attenuator fitted anywhere?  Your downstream levels seem a bit low for what your upstream levels are, also DS SNR is at 35 which isnt much higher than the 34 lower limit.  If there is a Forward path attenuator try removing it and make sure all connections are clean and tight

I work for VMO2 but all opinions are my own and are based on my own experiences
