50mb -> 100mb upgrade, but downloads slower?

Hi VM Team,

Recently upgraded from 50 to 100mbs,

being 100% honest i was getting occasional 100mbs speeds on the 50mb line, but since the upgrade its a solid 54mbs, never above.

I think I'm suppose to provide up or down stream numbers? i'll do that on next post.

Thanks,

How are you doing the speed tests - devices, wifi, ethernet, browser, App, what site.... ?

If on wifi, is it connecting on the 2.4 or 5 GHz band ? And run a test on an ethernet cable connection and see what that gets

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Hi, thanks for reply.

Its on 5ghz. The setup for speed test has not changed since the "upgrade", its an irrelevant question in this context; if I was getting 104-108mbs+ on a 50mb VM line a few days ago and now 'only' getting 54mbs exactly for 100mb line is dubious.

The usual restarts and resets have been done.

If say it takes a few days for VM systems to sort itself out by all means I'm happy to wait, but from memory, speed should be max on the same day...

You'd never see 104-108Mbps on a 50Mbps connection.

Test on an ethernet cable connection and see if it delivering the 100 that way

It is not.

thanks,

My contract was 50mbs, whether they upgraded me without updating the contract (or myself) is up to VM. I was getting 100mbs down and 10mb up on a 50mb contracted line.

Now, they have officially upgraded me the irony is I am only seeing 54mbs down and ~5mbs up.

Wondering if its a VM issue or have they changed contractual commitments to give the full 100mbs lately.

Hi hub3issues,

Thanks for posting on the Community Forums. I'm sorry to see you are having troubles with your download speeds after upgrading to 100mbs broadband. I can't see how you'd be getting over 100mbs when subscribed to our 50mbs as that's not really possible, unless something was wrong on our end or the speed test you completed was inaccurate.

I've had a look on this end and there's no issues with your hub specs and your signal looks fine, however we have identified issues with your WiFi coverage and 5Ghz band is pretty congested. Can you please perform a factory reset on your hub and run the rest again? Preferably on a wired connection and via Samknows.

Let us know 🙂
