1gb upgrade not as expected, i.e. slow

Hi there,

Yesterday I got my hub 4 and 1gb broadband upgrade, coming from 350mb.

I put it straight into modem mode and ran various speed tests from my server and was disappointed to see I was only getting 500 - 600mb download speed.

my server is connected to a wired gigabyte network, I moved the server next to the hub 4, so server- -my router- - hub 4. I got the same speeds as above, so this ruled out my internal network.

I then put the hub 4 back into router mode and got the same results again.

I then went to the Sam Knows Real speed test web site while connected direct to the hub 4 and the internal speed was more like what I should expect from my server on my network.

I was getting around 936mb download.

So my question is why the massive drop in speed when coming straight out of the hub 4 ?

In testing there is only one small cat 5e cable between the hub 4 and my router, and one more cable to the server.

thanks.

Your downstream power levels need adjustment - I've marked that for staff to take a look and advise, it'll probably need a technician visit, and they'll arrange that if needed.

I would always change cables just to make sure!

log into hub3/4 - 192.168.0.1 [or 192.168.100.1 if in modem mode] - DON'T SIGN IN, click - click router status [centre of screen] - and post the downstream and upstream figures - to see those press on the grey buttons/boxes labelled - upstream - downstream

Thanks for the quick reply, I did change the main one between the hub 4 and my router.

Thanks for the reply, I can’t seem to post the results as it says I have reached 2000 characters

When I figure out how to post the results from an iPad I will do.

I can’t copy and paste any of it and add it as it does not like the context, even a small section, and I can only seem to save as a txt file which I can’t attach.

if I could save a photo I would be able to attach.

Hi…I’m having a very similar issue with my 1GB connection except sometimes Im getting 900 odds download to Hub4 but often get 300 to 700 as well…from hub to pc - no other connections, i get around 5-600 mostly. Regards the posting - I think you just ignore the error message on the post and press the same button again if that makes sense!

Thanks very much, that worked a treat.

I hope you get your issue resolved as well.
