1gb download speed all over the place

Been watching this now since the last software update on Wed 15/02/2023 my upload is perfectly fine but my download is getting worse by the day.

Stats look fine, but internet is crawling downloads are so slow

The Ubuntu down load looks decent at 90 Mega-bytes per second i.e. 720 Mega-bits per second, a result close to the Real speed test.

To improve the 720 to the max of about 930 on a 1Gb/s link start looking at the computer software, over weight security packages and software firewalls / safe browsing tools can reduce network performance.  See if the latest network driver might help tease out a little more.

A good first test to see what could be possible is to Restart the Computer in Safe Mode + Networking and re-run the Realspeed test.

If there is minimal change it is already close to the best configuration,  if there is a worthwhile speed increase it shows what is possible.

I have done all the test, I don't have any anti-virus installed.

Like I have said this only started the day I had the latest software installed, I don't usually go on any browser speedtest results I  only put them in here because I know people would ask for them. I normally test my speeds on multiple download sites to test my speeds, the unbuntu test was probably my best download .

Things seem to have gone back to normal today but these speeds after 12 are a bit on the slow side especially for a 1gb connection.

Sorry to hear of the broadband speed fluctuation, we appreciate you raising this via the forums.

From checking we can see the speeds have fluctuated over the last few days, at present a speed test has completed at 1143mbs download and 46mbs upload. Zero packet loss, 12ms latency and minimal jitter, all of the levels appear to be within the levels and ranges we'd expect to see.

It has been a few days since your post, have you noticed any improvements over the last couple of days?

You will always see 1143mbs speeds on your end, but on my end on any PC the download speeds are still fluctuating.

The upload speed is perfectly fine It's the download speed that I am bothered about at the moment, even using a download manager the speed starts off fine then just drops dramatically. When downloading I used to get a constant 123MB/sec since the last software update it's all over the place starting out fast then just dropping and dropping which is getting very annoying when trying to download files over 100GB in size.

Thanks for coming back to us about this issue. Sorry to hear that your speeds are still fluctuating. Have you taken a look at our Minimum Speeds page to see what you should be expecting on your package? 

You can also take a look at our Speed Up page to see if this can help change a few things to improve your speeds. 

Have you recently rebooted your Hub to see if this can help improve your speeds. I've taken another look at our systems, and I cannot see any issues with your upload or download power levels.

Thanks for the advice Paulina but I know how things work.

Like I have said previously I haven't noticed any issues myself within the hub all my PC's are working fine but this still doesn't say something is wrong maybe high utilization in my area!! 

Something is wrong because I have just done 2 speedtest you can clearly see something is wrong, there are a few post re this issue of 1GB dropping down to 90mb. I have tested my cables and nothing has changed 

I haven't rebooted the hub and just done 2 more test and again it's gone back up but still far away from what I had before the last software update, this is when all these issues have started from.

Check your link speed when downloading you seem to be at 100Mb

I had 2 speedtest results at 93Mb, the IDM transfer download speed was @ 12.3Mb
