Hi,
Just upgraded from 500MB on a Hub 3 to 1Gig. Woman on the phone who did my upgrade said that the Hub 3 will work fine. It's been a couple of hours and the connection is still showing as 500MB after a router reboot.
Is the Hub 3 compatible with the 1Gig connection as 1Gig is DOCSIS 3.1 as I understand it and the Hub 3 supports up to DOCSIS 3.0?
How long should the upgrade in speed take? My account is now showing me as having 1Gig but I haven't received an emails at all for the change in contract / speed.
I have got a Hub 5 which I was sent before Christmas which I had no end of problems with with dropping connection etc and I managed to get my Hub 3 reactivated and it worked fine. It turned out that there was a problem with my line to the house and this has since been resolved, but I am reluctant to plug the Hub 5 back in in fear of having the same issues again. Should I do this to test? I don't want to if the Hub 3 will work with 1Gig.

Hi @PhatEd
The hub3 can only go up to 600 and not 1 G
You would need to reactivate the hub 5.
Call 0800 953 9500 to re- activate the hub5. You will need the hub5 serial number, and your account number and area code.
EDIT, I'm not a broadband expert but those power levels look a little high to me.
One for the forum internet gurus should pick up on this and advise further,
In the meantime post your Upstream levels and also the Network Logs as this may save time later if the connection is poor.
You could also set up a BQM monitor at thinkbroadband.com - this will give you an insight into what is happening with the signal at the other side of the Hub, it will take a few hours to get any kind of trend showing although you can post the link straight away.
Instructions for posting BQM Link
Under your BQM graph are two links in red.
Click the lower link (Share Live Graph) then click generate.
Copy the text in the Direct Link box, beware, there may be more text than you can see.
On here click the Link icon (2 links chain to the left of the camera icon)
In the URL box paste the link you copied and then click OK.

Thanks for the reply newapollo.
I can confirm that I have activated the Hub 5 and it is connected and working with none of the previous issue I had before the line was replaced.
However, download speeds connected directly to the router via ethernet are maxing out at around 530Mbps? The router shows a connection of over 1Gig:
Primary Downstream Service Flow
SFIDMax Traffic RateMax Traffic BurstMin Traffic Rate
27685 |
1200000450 bps |
42600 bytes |
0 bps |
Primary Upstream Service Flow

27616 |
55000270 bps |
42600 bytes |
0 bps |
16320 bytes |
Best Effort |
Any ideas or should this increase over time?
Thanks

Speedtest on ethernet is giving me about 840Mb down and about 50Mb up now
on 06-04-2022 13:50
As far as I know the SamKnows Realspeed test isn't enabled on the Hub 5. The fastest you will ever get via ethernet is around 940 (unless, of course, you have a PC with a 2.5Gb/s connection too match the Hub 5), so 850 isn't too shabby.
What's the downstream power levels like? As mentioned above the ones reported by the 3 were a bit on the high side.
