1 Gig FTP very slow ??

Hi 

I have a problem with the download speed from my server FTP 

im connecting  ethernet Hub4 1 Gig

What is the reason it is downloading so slowly? Thank you for help

Can you do this to check what speeds are being delivered to the Hub.

Connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a NEW and working Cat5e/6a ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode”...

(https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-hub-modem-mode ).

This ensures that NO other devices are connected

Test speeds at https://speedtest.samknows.com/ - try on 2 different browsers.

If they are still low – boot your device into Windows safe+networking mode - to disable any potentially interfering software - and try again.

There are many posts on here (I have a list of ~30!) where QoS software, unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers, bad cables or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

So I did everything  jbrennand said 🙂 It looks like the speed is ok for several seconds and then drops just like in the picture

Where is your "server FTP" located ?  Can you post a trace route ?

Welcome back, thanks for posting.

I am sorry for the issues with your speed.

I have checked our system and everything seems to be within spec, also no outages in your area.

Can you tell me if you are using any third party router? Also how is your wired connection?

Was that latest test via a wired or WiFi connection?

I have checked our system again and everything seems to be good for your connection to be as it should, also there are no outages in your area.

Would you like to order a WiFi pod to help improve your connection?

Ok, I came back 🙂 after the visit of another engineer who changed my Hub 4 to a new one, everything was back to normal 🙂 

 

I will add that earlier it connected me only to the Manchester server and now it connects me closer to me like Sheefild  etc.
