Weak security showing using Apple iphone

I’m new to Virgin and right from the start my WIFI is showing a Weak Security label. Virgin say it’s nothing to worry about it’s something to do with Apple products. 
but I’ve recently been hacked and wonder if this could be related? 
how do I increase security please
