Was scammed via email.

Was scammed by email on my iPad. One of those where they copy your email and send a threat to do this that and whatever and want payment. Obviously I deleted the message and I can see this issue has affected others in the community. I tried to change my mail password but accidentally deleted Mail instead. Now I can’t reinstall it because I did not write the Mail password down anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear you've been the victim of a scammer.

Check out the envelope in the top right hand corner and we'll be able to make a change to the memorable word for the E-Mail address, provided you're the account holder for the Virgin Media subscription.

Thanks,

Thank you for your reply. I managed to find my password. It was the same as my virgin media one.

I researched this scam message and it seems to be a common one. The advice was to delete and not engage with the scammer.

it is so frustrating that these individuals feel the need to scare people into paying them. The police should spend more time catching and prosecuting them.
