I’ve just received a cold call from virgin media to go through some offers, I just want to know if this is a genuine call or scam please.
Do virgin media have to ask for a bank account number and sort code to do a credit check for a business account? Also is a business account available at a residential property?

thanks

Yes you can have a business line at a residential property.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

Check out this parallel topic here

and read the description of how a scam worked there in the article from Action Fraud. Your description has some similar-sounding features (a cold call out of the blue, an offer of discounted services and request for banking details). VM business is also mentioned in passing in the story.

The basic principle is that you should never give banking details or other personal data to any cold caller.
