Hi,

For several days now I have been receiving a error which reads:

Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. Please try your request again later. Why did this happen?

 IP address: xx.xx.xx.xx
Time: 2016-11-12T17:19:44Z
URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DqYfNzhLXYGc

It seems to show when linking to a Youtube video and from what I can see only happens when using Google Search on the VM hompage, searching on www.google.com and www.bing.com works fine.

Try it, search for gtr youtube on the VM homepage, then direct from Google and then Bing, what results do you get?

Are VM aware of this?

It looks to be the referral that is borking google - look at the URL that each search (VM homepage/Google) generates youll see what I mean.

There are plenty of other people complaining about it but dunno who their ISP's are or whether they are using google.com or a search via their ISP, I have not seen any response from Google as yet.

Interesting

Looking at the URL's generated by the Google Search widget and the url on the Google search page shows what the problem is.

Looking at the URL from the search widget we have a couple of URL encoded characters.

%3F and %3D

I had a look here - http://www.degraeve.com/reference/urlencoding.php

%3F is ? and %3D is =

So -  https://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DqYfNzhLXYGc

Is actually https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYfNzhLXYGc

Now both should work as the URL encoded characters are permissible.  But Google appears to be misinterpreting the first url as having been generated by an automated script.  Which breaches it's T&C's - hence the first URL is blocked, but the second URL is accepted.

It's taking the forum team seven days or more to get round to posts at the moment.  Kippies has raised the issue elsewhere as well and I've flagged it up.

Thanks for this - Kippies and Ravenstar68 have both made sure it's on my radar.

I've escalated this for investigation - and Raven is correct - those %3F and %3D encodings seem to be affecting it.

Because of the way the Community site is structured, links here are unaffected, but I have checked and can see that there are a couple of sites - YouTube included that are.

Apologies, and I'll let you know when I have further information.
