Telephone scam?

Hi

I have just rec'd a call from 01********* purporting to be for Virgin and calling about my router.

My wife had a similar call the other day and normally, VM would ask to speak to me as I am the registered customer, but this was not done.  My wife hung up as did I after asking the caller to email me as he would have my email on file if genuine.

Is this a scam?

Yes, this was a 100% scam call.

VM does not make unsolicited tech support calls in this way.

Best approach is to hang up and not speak to them. Once you engage with them and talk to them, it just confirms that the line is working properly and there is someone on the end of the line who is willing to speak to them. This just encourages more of the same types of scam call.
