Scam? Phone calls from virgin media

Anyone getting lots of phone calls from Virgin Media wanting to talk about my internet connection? I’m assuming it’s a scam as I’m getting about 10 a day or are they genuine and if so how can I get them stopped?

Two today

I string them along to the point of accessing my pc then say "oh one more thing, I'm a cyber security and fraud specialist" to which they hang up they are calling via an IP Phone number server so although it looks like a local or recognized number no two are the same

First call came from Canterbury localized geographical number [MOD EDIT: REMOVED]

When you answer one of these scam calls and engage with the scammers in conversation (even if it is a wind-up conversation), you have confirmed that your phone number is working and that there is someone on the end of the line who is willing to talk to the scammers and listen to them. This means that you are only likely to get more of the same scam calls.

An increasing number of topics on the forum show that the scammers are now using real phone numbers of innocent people who are not connected to the scammers. The forum moderators should redact the numbers in case they are real. As the fake caller ID numbers change regularly, publishing them does not serve any useful purpose really.
