You cannot, you need a much better router than the VM hubs. All you can do is use websafe/childsafe or run something like Pi-Hole on a machine.

There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary and those who don't and F people out of 10 who do not understand hexadecimal c1a2a285948293859940d9a49385a2

Why wouldn't they include this functionality on their hubs?

To confirm, I should buy my own router, and not use the VM hub ?

If you want to block specific websites navigate to  Childsafe via your Virgin Media login and you can block categories of websites as well as specify individual ones to block.

It's linked to your account, not your HUB.

Not sure I understand what you mean carl. Whats linked to my account?

Someone replied saying the functionality wasn't available on the HUB, and I'd have to buy a more expensive router.

I am asking - why VM don't include the functionality to block sites on their hub - which is effectively a router.

the hubs supplied by VM don't allow to you to change DNS servers

websafe is built into the vm hubs bare in mind easy to bypass if the person your trying to block knows what to do.

They provide the functionality via the Websafe function linked above. You don’t go into the hub to change settings, like adding sites to block, you login to Websafe with your My Virgin Media account login.

FYI be aware there is an ongoing issue with Web Safe that may result in loss of either or both custom settings for

  • blocked Categories
  • Websites allowed or blocked

Keep an eye on them once set and as a general rule going forward.

I router does not have to do everything and it likely go wrong anyway if VM did.

As said web safe when you login below can add block list but its buggy so you might as well get your own router
