Hi,

 

I had a phone call this morning from an 01264 area code number claiming to be from Virgin Media. They were saying that they were getting errors from my router and they needed my help to fix it to improve my speed.

Does this seem like a genuine call?

No, this was a scam call. VM don't make unsolicited tech support calls in this way.

The (pretend) 'fix' they offer you is to remotely log into your computer and, from there, try to access your online banking services with a view to stealing money from you or other personal information.

Highly likely they will call again. When they do, just hang up without talking to them.
