F-Secure

Hi People, I have recently re-joined Virgin and have just downloaded F-Secure as I was lead to believe it was free with my broadband.

I downloaded it with a link sent to me from VM, however it seems it is only a trail and that I have to pay for F-Secure if I want it. Is this the case??

Any advice would be greatly received.

Re: F-Secure

Yes, after an initial free period you have to pay for it.  Shop around for other options.

I used F-Secure a few years ago and it was a disaster.  Maybe they have improved it since then but I will never opt for it again.

Re: F-Secure

I thought it was free for the first 12 months?

Re: F-Secure

Try Sophos Home, their product is free or you can pay for extra facilities.

Re: F-Secure

Hi HavencroftKev,

You are correct, F-Secure should be free for the first 12 months, read here.

But I don't know if that 12 month period begins with activation of your broadband or installation of F-Secure.

How long have you been a VM customer and when did you activate F-Secure?

Re: F-Secure

Hi Jen_A, My services will be installed on Wednesday, so I am hoping I will get a voucher code or something then? Thanks for the reply.

Re: F-Secure

Hi HavencroftKev,

You will be able to obtain an F-Secure key, once your broadband has been activated:

  1. Simply log in to My Virgin Media with your primary username & password
  2. Click F-Secure SAFE from the My apps section
  3. Click Get F-Secure SAFE and F-Secure KEY
  4. Click Register for F-Secure
  5. Click Add device and select install on this device then either Windows PC or Mac depending on your computer

Full details for install can be found here.

Hope this helps 🙂

Re: F-Secure

Funnily enough I was just about to ask roughly the same question:

Do you get a years subscription each time you were to join VM?

...and after having a chat with f-secure apparently not!
"A Virgin Media account can only enjoy the 12 months promotion once in a lifetime."

But I have a new VM account as my old account was closed. I am new customer, do I not get the same promotional deals?

Re: F-Secure

I have just joined and tried to get F-SECURE but I got no key. So I rang virgin to be told that I don't have the right bundle and I would have to pay £10 a month if I wanted it. I have looked through virgins website and all the correspondence I have received and at no point have I read you need a certain bundle to receive F-SECURE it all states you get free 12 months F-SECURE. Please can I have this clarified?

Re: F-Secure

Hi, Shaun99.

I see you have a few questions about F-Secure. It is free to use in the first 12 months of the life of an account, and is available across several bundles on offer. I gather you have already contacted us about this particular question. More information about F-Secure through its FAQ's can be seen here.

I"d like to know if you've used it before, as you mention you are a returning customer? If you have used it in the time of your previous contract, then that means you have already consumed on the offer, as this is only applicable once for an account holder.

Thank you.
