I believe that like all ISPs they are legally obliged to for a period of time.

Interesting question. I have tried to research this in the past and finding clear information is quite hard to do. Actual practices may vary between different ISPs.
This recent article
matches up with my understanding of how it is supposed to work.

Not sure the T&Cs fully clarify the specifics of what takes place as it depends on what is actually 'required by law', which seems to be the bit which is unclear to many. My recollection of similar past queries on here about this is that VM do not routinely log web browsing activity.
My interpretation of the T&Cs quoted fits with the article which is that no routine logging takes place but the capability exists to do so if a specific request is made to start doing so against a particular customer.

What is a data retention period
07-10-2021 08:27 - edited 07-10-2021 08:37
It refers to how long your data is held for before being deleted or no longer actively retained i.e. possibly overwritten by newer data.
If you keep starting new topics on essentially the same subject you could end up getting blocked from the forum for multiple posting. You could/should have added this to your original topic here
https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Security-matters/Browsing-history/td-p/4836716
It might help other forum users to help you if you explained a bit more about what your problem is rather than posting similar one line queries each time.
