Whilst I wouldn't recommend buying "off peg", that cable is the same as the several I have lying around from old VM Hub installs, going back to the SH2.  They came in the box, along with ethernet cables.

It's specialised triple screened cable that is specifically manufactured for Virgin. Do not make any changes to their network wiring, as it may cause interference problems. Also, alterations to the amount of cable can affect signal levels, which may require adjustment in the street cabinet outside.

Cables sold on eBay & the like are not approved cables, despite the claims made.

I literally have about 1 meter of cable from the box on the wall to the TV box, he pushed all the cables behind my TV Unit, he used  2 extension leads plugged into each other then plugged into 1 wall socket. I couldn't see what was where the wires were allntangled and looked a mess, i wish I had checked the work before he went but he assured me everything was fine and there was plenty of wire to move it around the room.

VM internal coax is foil and braid screened 75ohm RG6 cable with F-Plugs.  Really no voodoo at all !

An engineer visit to supply a more suitable cable will cost £25.

The installer would have run a longer cable if you had asked at the time.

You can call customer services and ask for a technician visit to change it. Normally the charge would be £25 but since this is a new installation you may be able to persuade them not to charge you.

There are substitute cables you can buy which are claimed to be the same, but they are inferior quality and can cause interference problems. Don't be tempted.

When did your service start?  If its within 14 days - call in to cancel it and incur no exit costs - unless they send the Tech back to install it where you want it at no additional cost

My virgin Service started a couple of months ago (March), I have only just got round to decorating that room and pulled out the unit, that's when I realised the technician hadn't left me enough wire.

He originally stated that there was plenty of wire to manoeuvre the box's around the living room, as I told him the virgin and wifi box would not be staying near the box on the wall.

But he obviously lied for some reason.
