Considering Virgin as my next ISP, my street was cabled around 20 years ago and a few neighbours are with Virgin but none joined recently.
Is it possible for a staff member to check lead times in the KA10 postcode area or anyone in Ayrshire able to advise of their recent experiences.

Do an availability check on Virgin Medias website and click through to place an order. Before you give any of your details it should offer you the ability to choose your installation slot. I ordered mine on Monday the 2nd and it's due to be installed on Monday the 16th.
If your property has previously had Virgin or a cable company before that, they may just send you your kit for a self installation which would usually be quicker.

TBH.... there is no template for this - it will happen anywhere within a week - or some on these fora have taken over 12 months and still arent connected.
The only way you will know is when you press the go button for connectivity.
You could do that and see how it progresses - you can always cancel under the "cooling off period" legislation - anytime up to 14 days post installation and incur no charges.
But only go through this whole process if you genuinely do want to accept the service when installed on the timescale you are happy with.
