V6 Box Fails to install software

I have finally got my V6 box however the remote was missing from the box which is very frustrating. Anyway while waiting for the remote I thought I will try and use the box using the buttons on the box. I turn on the box it goes through installing software but it fails at 'Verifying' step. I restarted it several times with no luck. The box is connected to the internet via cable.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

thanks in advance,

Re: V6 Box Fails to install software

Is the V6 connected to the co-ax cable, as well as to the internet, and have you made the activation call?

Re: V6 Box Fails to install software

All Virgin Media set top boxes require a connection to the cable co-ax.

Re: V6 Box Fails to install software

The customer service support told me otherwise. They said as long as the tv box is connection the internet, it should work. I am a bit confused now. I will call them again.

Re: V6 Box Fails to install software

The fact that it is not working should be a clue that you need the coaxial connection

Re: V6 Box Fails to install

Coaxial cable is not the issue here as I moved the TV to the dining to try it but it still failed. On the other hand, if you use Wifi then there is no need for coaxial cable. Booked an engineer to take a look tomorrow, will update following that. I am convinced that either there is a problem in my locality or the box is faulty.

Re: V6 Box Fails to install

Please understand that you are being given the correct information.

All Virgin Media set top boxes require a connection to the cable co-ax at all times.

In addition, V6 requires a connection to your home network, either by Ethernet (direct Ethernet cable or via powerline adapters) or by WiFi.

I am convinced you think the box works by magic and 700 odd channels can be transmitted simultaneously by wi fi
