Guys has anyone a step by step guide on doing this . I have been at this for days and cant get it to work . or is there a link to show me how this is done /

Ive put the virgin router into modem mode, then add the asus router turn it on and nothing happens what else do i need to do . Does the setting in asus router need changed maybe .?

well you need to tell the asus router how to get the WAN IP.
so you need to set the asus router to DHCP for the WAN connection.

What model of Asus do you have? As other said need to make sure WAN set to dynamic/dhcp.

Could try if none don't so

Enable modem mode, connect Ethernet from hub (port nearest coax), to wan port.

Turn off both hub and Asus, turn on hub leave for about 2-3 minutes, turn on asus

how do i set asus to dhcp ? or does this do it automatically

i think you need to read the user manual that came with the router.

have lost the manual , although here is instructions , from reading them does it do it automatically ? sorry im useless at this

What Asus router model do you have.

If its got a WAN port do the following.

Hub in router mode connect your PC to the Asus router and Asus router by its WAN port to the bottom port on the hub. Go to 192.168.100.1 and change to modem mode and wait for internet.

If no internet in 5 mins power off the hub for 2mins and on wait 5mins.

If no internet in 5 mins power off the hub for 2mins and connect your PC to the hub and power on till you get internet by unplug replug the Ethernet cable. Should you get internet like that connect your PC to the Asus and connect to the GUI of the router and use the clone option in WAN setting to copy your PC MAC to your Asus and connect the Asus WAN port to the hub and you should have internet.
