Hi,
I've just received my broadband only self-install kit after moving into a flat and realised there's no VM wall socket. There is, however, an unmarked socket with a coax cable labelled "CABELCON 3.9" (pictured).
I've read through some of the similar posts (sorry, I know this type of question is fairly common!) but wanted to check my understanding was right.
If I understand correctly, the VM cable supplied in the kit contains an isolator, so it would be ill advised to plug the cabelcon coax straight into the router, but I could get a connector to link the two cables? Or would it be better to call the provided number and get an engineer in? If a connector would be sufficient that would be my preference so I don't have to wait for an engineer & potentially OK any installations with my landlord etc. etc. If that would be a lot better/safer then of course that'd be fine.
Thanks in advance!
Toby

Yes the connector route is fine. Screw one end into the existing cable and the new VM isolator cable will just push onto the other end of the connector. There may well be an isolator inside the old wall box, but having two will do no harm. Don’t forget however, the existing cable may be disconnected in the street cabinet. Just try it and see.
