TiVo and TV in separate rooms

The problem:

1. TV downstairs, TiVo box and hub located in the loft upstairs

2. What set-up / hardware is required to allow the TiVo remote to be used downstairs?

I've had a look at some IR repeaters / extenders available online, but have seem mostly products that work in a situation where TV stands on a cabinet and the tivo box is hidden inside, i.e. single room and short distance.

Any solution available via HDMI cable? Can the IR signal from TiVo remote be sent via the TV's IR receiver and hdmi cable to the TiVo box?

Help, anyone?

Many thanks,

LA

Re: TiVo and TV in separate rooms

Why don't you have the TiVo box and hub next to the TV?

Re: TiVo and TV in separate rooms

Space, space, space. And cables to the several network-connected devices. We'd need a mini-fridge-sized cabinet to house all of the boxes, incl. tivo/network hub.

TV sits on the chimney breast and we don't have any cabinets nearby.

Re: TiVo and TV in separate rooms

Nobody needs a cabinet for a hub and a V6, just put them on the floor. Also you then won't need that long HDMI cable and long coaxial cable, but you could run an Ethernet cable to a network switch in the loft for any equipment there which needs connection to the hub. And the hub downstairs will give you better WiFi in your living areas than you have now.

Re: TiVo and TV in separate rooms

Hi with your proposed set up nothing will work perfectly, it's a very bad idea to put a V6 in a closed space, it will overheat, & as Roger-Gonner says the hub and box are very small so don't take up any room.Regards Micky
