Hello,

I had a new TVO Box & Wifi Hub installed (on a splitter) a few weeks ago but now need to reposition the Wifi Hub to get a better signal around the house.

However, the cable is to short. Is there any special cable needed or will a 'optical cable' from a high street shop be fine?

you can't do this work yourself.
it will need a virgin engineer visit to re-cable as required.

an "optical cable" is not what virgin use.

Thanks for the reply. But not sure why I need an engineer just to replace a cable. If its not a "optical cable" do you know the type of cable I need?

you can't buy the cables vm use. if you change the distance the power levels need checkiong and ajecting in the green box.


Vm can move the hub at a cost of £99 or you can leave it where it is and get your own router. Then run a network cable from the Hub to the new router

If all you need is better WiFi, just get a wireless access point that you can mount next to the Hub or in a better place, connected to the Hub with an ordinary ethernet cable. Keep the Hub in router mode, just turn its own WiFi off.

Cheaper than getting Virgin in, and a better result.
