Superhub 3 internal network address

I have currently just had virgin out into my address and to my dismay I have found I can not change my internal ip address for the network in the superhub 3. I have always detested using default setting in any router I have bought or have used. I have my whole network manually set with ip addresses, I don't like using the range 192.168.*.* is there anyway of changing the setting to match all of my already set ip addresses across my network?

many thanks

Seems that the upgraded firmware, 9.1.116V does indeed block this from working. In fact, it seems if you already had an alternative IP address range in use, the upgrade of this firmware revision which happens overnight, seems to lock up the device. The DHCP server ceases to function, and neither is it possible to access the router configuration page. Restarting the hub doesn't resolve the issue. The only way to resume functionality is to factory reset the device.

Well done Virginmedia, you've made the superhub 3.0 completely useless to many now.

Seems the new firmware has broken even more functionality! Its now impossible to assign DHCP reservations correctly. This was working previously, but no longer functions. Adding a device reservation completely ignores the IP address you request is reserved for that device, and instead assigns the current DHCP assigned address, as the reserved IP.

Once again, well done Virginmedia. You've successfully broken further functionality on an already broken platform.

That never seemed to work very well for me anyway (well, it would store about 10 MAC addresses and then just forget anything beyond that). See http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Networking-and-wireless/SuperHub-3-forgetting-DHCP-reserved-mapp...

I gave up and now use the DHCP server on my NAS, which has a nice editable mapping table and is so much better than trying to fight the utterly awful Superhub which took about 40 seconds just to reload each page after a single edit.

which is what the earlier models did anyway ? my previous SH1 would only ever reserve the current address

Thanks Andre, that's a great idea. I'm running a Synology NAS, completely forgot about its DHCP services. If only I'd thought of that earlier, I could have avoided the pain in re addressing my home setup. I might look into that some more.

Cybmole, nope, it definitely worked previously, albeit requiring significant patience. It used to be possible to update the value of the fourth octet before applying the reservation, which allowed you to specify the address you wanted to assign. Worked quite well. I had twenty DHCP reservations successfully setup, until the 'upgrade' was released.

Does anyone have any further information on changing the network IP address on a superhub 3?

Even if they promise this in a few update that will be released in Jan, I would be happy 🙂

Just had the new Hub3 installed and first thing I wanted to do (as I've done with EVERY OTHER router from VM) is change the IP address of the router AND my home IP range.....couldn't find it anywhere!!

Found this forum and tried the Chrome > Developer Tools and I get this message....which I assume is due to the Firmware upgrade?

Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user's experience. For more help, check https://xhr.spec.whatwg.org/.

Why change something useful and that all previous routers/hubs have been able to do????

It is unfortunate kembo not really sure what to say! Maybe Virgin Media feels contempt for their users who want to use it this way?

With continued price rises and removal of functionality, I wonder where Virgin Media is heading.

I just use my own router and modem mode, lets me do a lot more then I could with an sh3

that aside even the most basic router should let you set its ip and address range.

Hi

Could you assist me in changing my router address to 192.168.1.1

I have copied the URL to notepad and obtained my N numbers

http://192.168.0.1/snmpSet?oid=1.3.6.1.4.1.4115.1.20.1.1.2.2.1.5.200=%24c0a80101;4;&_n=03022

http://192.168.0.1/snmpSet?oid=1.3.6.1.4.1.4115.1.20.1.1.2.2.1.11.200=%24C0A8010A;4;&_n=03022

http://192.168.0.1/snmpSet?oid=1.3.6.1.4.1.4115.1.20.1.1.2.2.1.13.200=%24c0a801fe;4;&_n=03022

http://192.168.0.1/snmpSet?oid=1.3.6.1.4.1.4115.1.20.1.1.9.0=1;2;&_n=03022

You mentioned in your post to covert the ip address using HEX converter, is this the IP address i want to use i.e 192.168.1.1. or the current router ip 192.168.0.1?
