Super Hub 3 many issues

Hey,

So, as a long time customer as well as a family member working for VM, I've somewhat been fairly happy with the service and speed in particular. What I'm not impressed by and what I want to attempt to solve is the multiple issues of the super hub 3. My god what on earth is this thing?

I'll explain. So, it all started about a year ago when I noticed that we where getting slow downs. Internet speed would drop to sub 25mb/s and even as low a 1mb/s on the 300/350mb/s package. Fine, a quick reboot of the SH3 and we're all back and sorted. This started to become a regular occurrence, at least once a day. Now during this time, we've had multiple new SH3's been delivered to us and installed. Us thinking that we're just burning them out over time.

I then start to think maybe the SH3 just can't cope with the load. We have 3 Ethernet devices and a handful of wifi devices so I set out to offload the work to a router and put the super hub 3 into modem mode. VM techs think this is the godly of all answers since most people won't actually get this far. Happily though, this was easy enough to do and got a PF Sense router on the go. Guess what! we're still having this lovely issue of drop outs.

So I remove PF sense, router, and go put a conventional router in just in case. Still have the issue. Knowing full well now after a year of troubleshooting, that this is just caused by over heating, I was forced to put a 120MM fan onto the side of the SH3 . This worked for a while, especially during the winter months where the house temperature is a lot cooler.

Fast forward to this some sort of summer we're having and we're still getting the issue. Now, all I want to know is what, if anything, we can do about this. I'm not going to buy a aircon unit and have the cupboard under the stairs the only room with AC. I have recently put the SH3 on a smart plug so it restarts every morning at 4AM because it wasn't being restarted enough but alas, issue is still there.I thought about just opening it up and adding my own heat sink onto the specific chip that's causing the heat but family member said that if anything happens to the router, it's all our fault and we can't go back on it? [Would VM supply a new one??]

I'm out of all options here. I love VM for it's speed and being just outside of London, we can't quite get fiber to door so I'm stuck. What do we do?

Added my own images via Gyazo since adding them via forum wasn't working.

Re: Super Hub 3 many issues

Why dont you just get VM to move your Hub to a cooler spot in the house - after all >99.9% of users dont have an overheating problem
