Silver terminator caps

Hi

I recently closed my account, I had TiVo and superhub. When i got the letter to pack up the kit and return it, it said to put silver terminator caps on the wall socket. I can't find any terminator caps and even if i did, i cant see the wall socket hole due to the awkward position. I spoke to someone in customer service who seemed to think i didn't need the caps but the letter says it's really important. Kind of worried because I don't want to wreck my telly connection

Can you help?

Z

Re: Silver terminator caps

The primary purpose of the 75ohm terminator caps is to prevent rf noise affecting the unused cable or device and so prevent other users on the local network being adversely affected.  For a modest sum you can buy them on Amazon ...  https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009F3IGG8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Re: Silver terminator caps

Many thanks for your query Zanita,

The purpose of these, as mentioned by Dave_cq, is to cap any signals transmitted from unused coaxial cables.

Not to worry if you've not received these though as this is not a necessity, just an advisory.

Let me know if I can help with anything more,

Nat_J

Re: Silver terminator caps

The 75ohm terminator cap sent by VM looks like these.  https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009F3IGG8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

BUT it will not fit on the coaxial cable as when unscrewed from the box there is already a male connector on the cable?

Thanks for help

Re: Silver terminator caps

You attach it to the wall socket not the disconnected cable!

Re: Silver terminator caps

thanks but the wall socket is in accessible in a box on the wall- I can't see a way of unscrewing/disconnecting the cable
