Scam alert

Tuning in

I was just phoned by "Virgin Media" on [REMOVED] who informed me that my broadband was throwing up errors. They asked me what colour light my BB box was - it's solid white, as it should be - they said it should be green or blue. They then asked me to open a command prompt on my PC. At that point it was very clear they were just trying to open ports or whatever so I hung up.

Just so all are aware she was actually very convincing up until that point. I did open up the SH network status which was showing no errors.

I don't know if there is a way to block this number or alert VM?

x directory phone number makes no difference tpc makes no difference. i have had these calls first lt was telephone provider then bt then 2 week ago it changed to virgin. my phone number is e directory and i am registered with tpc. i tried blocking calls but could not do it as it would also block my mother care phone if they called me. lockdown was great no calls but its back to normal now. 5 years of calls.

TPS and ex-directory will make no difference to the scammers as the scammers are criminals. TPS and ex-directory will only make you less likely to get unwanted calls (such as sales and marketing calls) from legitimate companies who abide by TPS rules as well as other dodgy callers who may acquire your name/number from the public directory. I use

which works as described in the manual below

http://www.truecall38.co.uk/manuals/callblocker.pdf

Carries out call screening as opposed to number blocking.

18+ months since installation and counting and no scam calls have bypassed it (as yet!)
