I just got my quick start kit. Plugged it in and called virgin media to activate my kit around 5 hours ago still no connection still flashing the quickstart line says my connection is activated and can't get to anyone on the phone.

Try rebooting the Hub.

I just went out to see where the inner wall socket was connected to the house on the outside. and it seems like the some worker cut the cabling to the house. I was wondering as to how i can get a engineer to come to the house since no one is answering the phone lines.

It took me a few days, like me if you know you need a engineer, go through the steps for service status in your account.

Try the steps, keep pressing no, basically it tries to discourage from reaching the end. eventually if none of the sets of steps work then you can book an engineer online.
