Question about installation

I'm considering switching to Virgin Media but have a question about the installations. At the moment, my phone line goes in upstairs, in my office, as (for work purposes), I need to have my router plugged into a rather bulky UPS. So, if switching to VM, I'd like to have the same set-up.

Is Virgin likely to allow the connection to go in upstairs so I can have the router set up there?

Thanks,
David.

Re: Question about installation

if its not more then 1 floor high they should be able to. But worth remember an area power failure may take down the network anyway.

Re: Question about installation

Thanks. Have had a couple of power outages since installing it and ADSL has remained solid, so I'm hopeful it would be similar for cable.

Re: Question about installation

the green boxes should have UPS backups but as batteries fail after 3 years some of them may not work as expected.

If you require a backup connection some good options.

1) get a router that can support 4g USB and get a three 24GB for 24 months that will work as a nice backup.
