Neighbour across street can get VM but i cannot?

As the title says, I live in a close and everyone on one side of the road leading through it can get VM and have visible Virgin Media access boxes outside their doors.

Anyone have any ideas who to contact or what I can do to try get some answers as to why?

This might have been built decades ago by one of VM's predecessor companies, and nobody will know why it was done that way. We can speculate but it's unlikely that VM will now extend its network around the close. However it won't cost you and your neighnours register your interest.

Just ask one of them for their WiFi code and away you go.

I would guess that the other response is correct (maybe cabletel or ntl).

These days they could not justify the cost of laying cables to your side for an unknown return.
