Hello 

The initial sign up process was misleading - leading me to think I had all I needed for install but I do not have the virgin socket.

Please can I arrange an engineer? I can't get through to the call centres despite waiting for 30 mins every time I call.

Please help - new customer not impressed.

Do you not have the virgin box outside either? Virgin don't offer a QuickStart unless services have been installed before.

I do not. And they actually do - it was all done online and it said all I needed was a socket with virgin on it (but didn't show a photo of this). Turns out they meant the wall socket and not an ethernet socket (which is what I have).

So, I need an engineer to install one.

Hi this is dreadful why were you sent a self install when it's quite obvious that your property was not completely ready for virgins services.Regards Micky

Perhaps the broadband socket has been removed. I have never ever heard of VM just install a phone line without broadband and that’s what the OP stated that they had.

To clarify - it's a ethernet socket marked Telewest that I have... and that I was told was ok...

I've never heard of an ethernet socket on the wall marked with Telewest!

cable providers have never installed ethernet

It’s possibly a RJ11 socket not a RJ45, they do look similar. If it’s a RJ11 then perhaps the property had the old ADSL service many years ago, before VM rid of that service, I think to Talk Talk. This could explain why the location had broadband and is still perhaps wrongly identified in the VM database.

Telewest abandoned ADSL in 2000.

VMs records will not go back that far, so I suspect this is a plain old telephone socket.
