Hello,
I am due for an engineer to come to my house to install a router, this is my first time. I am wondering if it would be possible for the engineer to install the router upstairs instead of downstairs? I'm also wondering if its possible to have the engineer install the router in any room such as a bedroom?

Hello,
My bedroom is on the outside wall, furthest away from the front door also being upstairs, It may require that the engineer has to go up into our loft to do some drilling. Would that be an issue?

I think technicians are not allowed to go into lofts for health and safety reasons. Maybe if it’s fully boarded it will be ok.

Hello,
Im positive our loft is fully boarded, but let's say it isn't for this question. Would it be possible for the engineer to drill through a room instead of going through the loft?

They could drill into a room then drill into a second room internally, they could clip the cable all the way around the house unless tour terraced or they may assist you.
If you want it to go into a loft you would have to be prepared to go into the loft yourself to recieve the cable not the technician

Hi GDeazeley,
Thank you for reaching out to us in our community and welcome both here and to Virgin Media, when an install is done the Technician does usually opt to put the cable and Router in the room where the cable comes in however if you do prefer it upstairs then they will aim to do this where possible, you can find out more what to expect during an installation here.
Please let us know how things go.
Once you are installed don't forget to set up an Online Account.
Once set up you will be able to manage your account, view bills and also make some changes.
Kind regards
Paul.
