Internet is lost, then comes back and status says "it's OK"

What is the point if the status site. It tells you there is no problem but 2 minutes before it was down. Seems pointless? I had a problem this morning with no internet, recorded a latency of 1536ms & an error massage. Then this evening no internet and "could not fix the problem". Moments later the internet came back and the status page sad it was fine. Oh really?

Off again today. Looks like it happens frequently. Is there a third party organisation that monitors the loss of service. I don't think it's in Virgins interest to record poor performance.
