Hub 3.0 Keeps Losing Passwords and Settings

Hi all,

 

In the last month or so my 3.0 Hub has started to lose all its settings after a powercut.  I have to set it up as a new router after every occasion.  It will also occasionally randomly reset the settings without there being a power cut.

I'm making sure I save the settings but it still happens?

Yes, this has been happening for me too, just over the last few months. It's not all the time - every few weeks or so -  but it's a proper pain when it does.

No powercuts, it just decides to reboot itself and go back to factory settings. Happened just this morning.

Any angle on this would be great.

Mine happened just last night.  It is a pain as I have a number of different settings I have to keep entering in.  I'm not sure why it should suddenly loose these.  I wonder if there is an internal back up battery?

If you havent tried this already, next time it happens, do a pinhole reset to factory settings.  Push the pin in to its stop point and hold for a "timed" 40 seconds do NOT restart the router after that.  Then put in all your changes - see if that helps.

Put the hub in modem mode with a PC and see if it resets back to router mode. Then use it in modem mode and get your own router with 1Gb ports.

I know I could do that, but I don't really want to have to buy another router.  The equipment is clearly faulty.

This is happening to me too. Virgin help were no help, telling me they had optimised some settings. This is a hardware fault and I would think replacement is the solution.
