Flashing green light on router

Hi

first time posting on here, we had a new router installed on Friday by an engineer and since installation the green flashing light hasn’t gone off?

we seem to have a connection and Wi-Fi but the light is continually flashing and don’t know if it’s normal or should go off? The connection sometimes drops out as well but not for long?

anyone had same problem? Can anyone help?

thankyou in advance

Re: Flashing green light on router

Hello

The green light you have flashing is called the WPS button there is nothing to worry about.

See https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-what-do-the-lights-on-your-hub-mean for what each light means.

Re: Flashing green light on router

If it is the WiFi light then this is a rogue indication which is an intermittent issue with the current firmware.

To correct it you would need to log into the hub settings & disable WPS.

Re: Flashing green light on router

Power cycling the hub has been known to fix it for some people, other have had success with turning off WPS in the settings. Otherwise it’s some black tape.

There is nothing physically wrong with the hub hardware, so the fact it is new is of no importance.

A previous update to the firmware is the issue as it has introduced a bug that mimicks the WPS button being pressed.

To disable WPS do the following:

Log into your Hub via 192.168.0.1 & use the one time Admin password on the base (unless you have already changed it).
Go to Advanced Settings > Wireless > WPS
Disable both WPS options at the top & apply the changes by pressing save.
Go to Admin > Reload & Reboot
Choose the last option & reboot the hub.
The Hub should then cease looking for WPS kit.
