First installation

Apologies if I am asking the obvious but this is the first time I’ve had to set this up:

I just need someone to explain exactly what I need to do as I’m not sure and might have messed up. I have signed up to broadband installation my new house, the box is being delivered next week and I selected self install. I think I might actually need an engineer to do something as the house is quite old and virgin has never been installed in the house before. So I called virgin today to ask to have an engineer come out and they’ve given me a date but on my app the installation date isn’t there and I’ve received no emails. Shall I call again or take their word for it? Also, how do I add on a TiVo box (not sure if it’s called this now) I don’t want movies or sports just a box so I can record and pause tv etc. sorry for probably obvious questions but it’s my first time setting this up on my own and I need a little help. Thank you.

VM would not agree to self install and send you the kit unless there had been a previous VM connection to the house.  So check again whether there is a VM cable to the house.  If there isn't one, or it's been cut back by a previous occupant, you will need to contact them and change it to a manned installation.

The Installations number is 0800 052 1734

You can add V360 at any time after the initial order has cleared the system (around 48 hours). Adding TV will mean a new contract as the service also has a minimum term attached. The Freeview channel equivalent on VM is Mixit TV, but as the box is rented & it is a closed system you are charged for the channel package even though the channels are free elsewhere. The V360 box requires connection to BOTH your hub & VMs coaxial cabling. The box self install is only provided with a coaxial splitter & a couple of metres of cable, so if the TV is more than 3 metres from the hub you will need a manned installation for your V360 box.

VM 350BB 2xV6 & Landline. Freeview/Freesat HD, ASDA/Tesco PAYG Mobile. Cable customer since 1993

You should also consider the alternatives, depending on which channels you want.

Once you have the VM broadband in place you can subscribe to Sky Stream on a monthly basis to see if you like it.  If you have a TV aerial you could get the excellent new Manhattan T4-R box for recording off air and access to some streaming channels.

Hi @Princessamy 👋 Thank you for your post and welcome to the Virgin Media Community 😀

I can see you've spoken to the team since you posted. Have you now been given the necessary assurances regarding the installation date?

If you'd like to discuss adding a TV 360 box onto your package after the initial order has cleared the system, please give us a call on 150 from a Virgin Media landline, or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.

Thank you for your support @jpeg1 and @nodrogd 👍

Regards,
Daniel
