Hi
I am currently a Virgin Media customer. There is cable that runs from my old NTL/Virgin box at the front of the house and appears to run through the frame of my front door into some kind of junction box, then back outside and and up the outside wall of the house to the first floor. I am not sure if this cable is redundant or in use. While I dont use a landline phone, my router is plugged into the phone line on the first floor, and I am worried this cable feeds that box, otherwise I would jsut pull the cable out myself.
I am going to be getting gas installed in next few months and in order to install the meter, the gas company needs this cable moved/removed. There is no slack on the cable to allow me to do this myself. How do I go about getting this sorted?
thanks,

So i probably could have saved you all a lot of time! it doesnt look like the cables are even connected in the BT junction box

the cable at the top looks like the input from outside - the bottom cable is to the internal box i would guess - if thats correct you can certainly remove the non connected cable - the input BT would have to look at - you are really asking in the wrong place - if you want the input BT cable removed they would have to do it i suggest

Sometimes takes a little while to get to the answer on the forum. Kudos to @Eeeps for the suggestion to check for the 21CV connection on the hub. That saved you £99!
If you ever do want to use your phone, it should just connect to the 'TEL1' socket on the back of the hub via an adapter.

Yes, thanks to all for working this out for me, saved me a lot of time and money, should be straightforward from here
Yes the engineer gave me the adapter at the time, now that I think about it I remember him connecting a phone to the router to test it.
