Contradictory diagnostic reports

When I request a service status based on my post code, it reports there is a known issue, to be resolved by tomorrow. But when i run the "smart" tool on my hub it (unhelpfully) says it is not turned on? Can I believe the status that Virgin recognise an issue? Thanks

The smart tool polls your modem to see if its online.

If there is an area fault affecting broadband, it may well be switched on, but likely offline.

Depending on the fault, your modem could show as provisioned correctly your end but still be offline to VM (haul-back from CMTS  impaired) but thats fairly unusual.

What does the provisioning screen currently report?
