Contract £24 for 18 months but first bill £48?

I have just taken a contract out through moneysupermarket for £24 a month for 18 months. It is the m100. Fibre broadband.

Why have they sent me an email saying that my first bill is going to be £48? I have selected to set it up myself so no engineer...

Also I was expecting to select a date for when I want my service to go live. I wanted this to be around the middle of march, but by the looks of it they are gona start the contract on the 22nd of this month i think it was.

Perfect thanks for your help. Do you know if I can choose when my service goes live as it's saying the 23rd of this month at the minute but I would like it to be around 3 weeks after this.

Thanks

Very creative accountancy! Pay upfront and in advance! gosh remember the old days you use to pay for a service after the service was provided!
