Connection dropping now and then...

Hello,

Connection has been a bit iffy this week (which is unusual). CM restarted itself while I was at home during the day on Tuesday 8th. There was a suggestion of work in my area that day 12am-5am, but it was later this day I first properly noticed problems.

Today - brief loss of connection at 11:14. I'm assuming RS errors and T3 timeouts aren't ideal. Anyone know what the accepted ranges are for DS and US signals?

What's the best way to convey the following info to VM Support?

To answer your original post about power levels etc.

Downstream range -6 to +10.  Upstream 34 to 51.  T3's and PostRS errors should be zero in ideal conditions.  If the PostRS errors keep rising, there is a problem on the circuit, usually noise ingress.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having some trouble with your connection. I've checked over things on our systems and I'm unable to detect a fault currently that would explain why you're experiencing this problem. How are things for you today? Any better at all?

If the issue is ongoing, can you share a live BQM with us so we can look at your connection in real-time?

Thanks for looking into this.

I restarted my CM earlier (11:51ish) and the counters reset. Here's my BQM (I think and I'm assuming it'll update as the day goes on - not sure how this works?):
My Broadband Ping - VesselCottonDes

My issue is that the connection drops now and then, but the rest of the time seems to be fine.

My question is: should I expect to see T3 errors and Post RS errors? If so, what level is acceptable?

Thank you for that. The BQM will basically monitor the connection and display anything of concern such as drops, packet loss, etc.

I'd advise we let that run for at least 24 hours so we have a full scope of your connection quality across a day and then we'll be able to go from there. If the issues persist around this time tomorrow, please let us know here and we'll go from there.

To answer your original post about power levels etc.

Downstream range -6 to +10.  Upstream 34 to 51.  T3's and PostRS errors should be zero in ideal conditions.  If the PostRS errors keep rising, there is a problem on the circuit, usually noise ingress.

At home again today and it's just dropped again. I'm still getting T3 Timeouts and loads of Post RS errors.

Had a helpful tech out on Saturday and he confirmed cabling was good from the "grid" (assuming he meant the CATV hole in the footpath) all the way into the CM, but that the grid did flood with water. He replaced a split connector in the grid and tidied up the insulation surrounding the sting on the connector into external wall box. He also added an attenuator for the downstream signals.

He also asked me to do a full CM reset - 30 second pin push after the visit too which I did.

I assume the grid flooding maybe causing a problem or maybe the problem exists further back up into the network?
