Brown Box Cover

I had Virgin broadband fitted yesterday, I have noticed that neighbours who have had virgin installed have a nice tidy brown box on the external wall where the cable enters the house. When I checked mine it just had a blob of silicone sealant in the hole with the cable. Is this correct or should  the neat brown cover been fitted?

Re: Brown Box Cover

No its not necessary.  The brown box is there to house a splitter so you can run a second cable to another room externally.

Re: Brown Box Cover

Well it is necessary at my house, it splits the incoming dual cable into separate co-ax for broadband and and the other for phone wire.
