Broadband in Prestwich, Manchester

Have been a Virgin customer for two months and for the third time in two weeks woken up to the hub all flashing green and zero network. Neighbour has the same issue. 

Have to abandon working from home to go into the office we need broadband to work, yet Virgin tell me there is nothing they can do as I’m not at home, although they are sending an engineer to next door tomorrow so that proves there is an issue. In the meantime I’m working away from home with all home security systems useless  as I have no broadband.

Is this typical of Virgin? If so at the first available opportunity I will be returning to Vodafone. 

Also be interested to know what OFCOM’s view is of tying someone into a 12 month contract when Virgin are breaching it frequently, with no offer of assistance or recompense.

If you rely on the internet for work then you really should be paying for a business connection with a service level agreement.

It’s 2019. Everyone relies on the internet in some form or another.

I never once had an issue with Vodafone, yet three times in less than two months have had complete full-day outages with Virgin, every time getting no explanation, no updates, no compensation for substandard service.

It’s a residential account, I work from home sometimes. And no, the checker says good service.

If this is good I would hate to see bad

There is also a Service Status number 0800 561 0061 which usually tells you of local issues, down to postcode level, that might not yet be listed on the Service Status web page.
